If you are artistically inclined, you can draw on N95, KN94 etc. masks using crayons. Sharpies don't penetrate the fibers. Colored pencils damage the fibers. Crayons are soft, and leave a thin layer of wax on the surface of the fibers. This will probably make your mask wear out quicker. It did not impede my breathing at all.
